Graham Hunt was injured six years ago in what appeared to be a kick boxing accident, leaving him a paraplegic. Subsequently he became depressed and did not wish to leave his bedroom. However, the chance to play a Nintendo Wii golf game prompted him to take up golf despite his disability. Initially he tried a driving range, but was frustrated trying to hit the ball from a sitting position. Having spoken to coaches at his Club, he discovered a special golf buggy with a chair that lifts the disabled golfer into a standing position. This has helped him to reduce his handicap from 27 to 22 and he has won two trophies in the past year at Frinton Golf Club. Last year he became the first disabled golfer to win an EGU gold medal.
